Keurig K-Supreme VS Keurig K-Supreme Plus: Which Should You Purchase?
At base price, the Keurig K-Supreme plus is understandably more expensive than its predecessor. The K-Supreme was the first Keurig brewer to come with multistream technology. However, I noticed that the K-Supreme Plus has a slightly larger reservoir, strength setting, and the ability to brew over a cup of ice. These features make me prefer the K-Supreme Plus.

Quick Overview
The Keurig K-Supreme Plus is a newer, improved version of the K-Supreme. Yet, I noticed that their price points are very different.
Why are the price points so different, and how does this influence your choice?
Well:
It made more sense after I took a look at their individual features. Let’s kick off with the K-Supreme.
Keurig K-Supreme (Rating: 83.3 %)
Fun fact:
The Keurig K-Supreme was the first ever Keurig branded coffee brewer to come with multistream technology. So, it paved the way for the K-Supreme Plus and newer models.
You see, this technology leverages several channels of water flow to draw out the rich taste and aroma from each K-pod. This leads to a quicker and higher-quality brew.
Consequently:
Coffee brewed with the K-supreme is noticeably richer than that of older models.
Also:
It also comes with a large 66 oz water reservoir that can brew up to 9 cups of coffee before needing a refill. This came in handy on the days I brewed frequently.
Intuitively:
The K-Supreme is perfect for a larger household of coffee enthusiasts and will serve you well if you decide to host guests.
Keep in mind…
One merit of the K-Supreme over the K-Supreme plus is being able to position the reservoir either at the front or by the side of the brewer.
This feature helped me better position the brewer on my kitchen counter.
Thoughtful, right?
I am also impressed by the brewing options and settings. The K-Supreme can brew over ice and comes with strength control.
Additionally:
The Keurig K-Supreme doesn’t come with a touch screen. You can rest easy knowing you won’t face any Keurig touchscreen issues.
Inversely, what are some of the downsides of owning a K-Supreme?
Well:
As modern as the design is, the K-supreme doesn’t have temperature control. I tried offsetting this disadvantage by preheating my Keurig multiple times before brewing.
Also:
The K-Supreme is also quite large. I like how I can move the reservoir between two different positions, but it still occupies a lot of space.
Pros
- 2 Reservoir placement options
- Multistream technology
- Fits travel mug
Cons
- Size
- Lacks temperature control
Keurig K-Supreme Plus (Rating: 86.6 %)
Unsurprisingly:
The K-Supreme Plus takes things to the next level. Keurig revisited the drawing board with this model and successfully improved on the predecessor’s weaknesses.
The K-Supreme Plus has strength, and temperature control, allowing you to get the most out of each coffee pod. I noticed I brewed a better cup when the water was hotter.
Impressively:
The Keurig K-Supreme plus has an even larger 78 oz water reservoir and two extra brew size options, bringing the total available options up to five.
This means…
I could brew anything from a shot of espresso to a travel mug’s worth of coffee for when I was on the go.
A display screen also helped me keep track of what was going on with my brewer. I was able to confirm the settings as I was inputting them.
Finally:
The K-supreme comes in a slick metal wrap that matches most modern kitchen designs. It didn’t look out of place in my kitchen.
However:
The Keurig K-Supreme Plus has a short list of problems it falls prey to. Some of these problems are related to the user-friendly display screen. It also takes up more space than the K-supreme.
It doesn’t end there…
I was shocked to find out that the reservoir position on the K-supreme plus is fixed. It isn’t as easy to find a space for this brewer.
Thankfully, I still had a generally positive user experience.
Pros
- Cup customizability
- Brew strength options
- Added brewing size variability
Cons
- No multistream technology
- No temp controls
- No strength control
Coffee Holli’s Verdict: Which Keurig Coffee Maker Reigns Supreme?
While the Keurig K-Supreme Plus is marketed asa new and improved Supreme, both models have much in common.
They both properly utilize multistream brewing technology and make rich cups of coffee.
Notably:
A study published in the journal of coffee science has shown that different roasts require different brewing methods to bring out the best flavors from ground coffee.
The temperature controls on the K-Supreme Plus helped me achieve this.
Going further:
I like the user interface on both models. The options are clearly labeled and beginner friendly, further simplifying the brewing process.
However, my choice becomes clear when we take a look at the differences. I like getting great value for the cost.
So, which of the two brewers is the best value for the price?
Candidly:
I believe the K-Supreme Plus edges out its predecessor well enough. The added features (temperature control, digital display) justify the price difference ($30).
The strength and temperature control options are vitalwhen brewing my desired cup of coffee.
Also:
It can brew over ice, bringing you one step closer to creating the perfect Frappuccino.
On the other hand…
The Keurig K-Supreme is also a great choice. It also produces great coffee and is the right option if you don’t have a lot of counter space to work with.
Perhaps you prefer the K-supreme’s matte finish over the Supreme plus’s shiny finish.
If either of these fits your current needs, go for the K-Supreme.
Personally:
I find the strength setting of the K-Supreme Plus very useful when I wake up on the wrong side of the bed.
A strong cup of coffee is usually all I need to kick into high gear and get ready to face the day.
Conclusion
I could tell from the get-go that both models are similar in appearance and functionality. However, now I’ve been able also to show you how to tell them apart.
The bottom line:
The Keurig K-Supreme Plus compensates for the previous model’s weaknesses by introducing temperature control.
You can get the best out of each coffee pod with temperature control. That extra kick of caffeine could be what you need to get through the day.
These are my thoughts.
So:
What do you think?
Which is the right choice for you? Are you unimpressed by the extra features of the K-Supreme plus? Or do you like a stronger, hotter coffee, like me?
I look forward to reading what you have to say.
